Mini Vertical de Arena / Mini Arena Vertical

Tenía que hacerlo. La verdad es que estas añadas de Zerberos Arena me tenían muy despistado. Conozco de su potencial ya que se cual fue su materia prima por lo que no me cuadraba lo que me había encontrado estos meses de atrás. Y la verdad es que los vinos no defraudaron, y fue incluso mejor de lo esperado.

I had to do it. It is true that these harvests of Zerberos Arena were driving me crazy. I know what they will become  because I know of what type of material they are made of, and I could not understand what I was finding when I tasted the wines some months ago. And the truth is that the wines did not disappoint me at all, and that they showed up to be even better that I could imagine.

Zerberos Arena 2008           

Muy complejo en nariz, mostrando aromas a fruta roja muy madura, con gran cantidad de tomillo, lavanda, flores azules, especias, cacao y aromas a tierra. En boca es seco, mineral (salino), con acidez equilibrada y unos taninos elegantes y aterciopelados. Tiene cuerpo, sin saturar, siendo sabroso, muy largo e intenso, reflejándose en el posgusto los aromas que aparecían en nariz. Al cabo de una hora, el vino es aun más complejo si cabe y con mucha fuerza y mineralizad, pero acariciándote el paladar con un paso muy fino.

Very complex aromas of very ripe red fruit and with lots of thyme, lavender, blue flowers, spices, cacao and a hint of earthiness. In the mouth the wine is dry, mineral (salty minerality), all balanced with the acidity and fine and silky tannins. The wine has a great body, but also very well balanced all together, being tasty, long and with great intensity. An hour after opening the wine, this becomes even more complex, more powerful and mineral, but still showing its great finesse.

Instrucciones de Uso: El vino necesita al menos una hora abierto antes de probarlo, y va genial con cordero asado, potenciando su lado más especiado.

Instructions for Use: The wine needs to be open at leas tan tour before drinking it. This wine matches perfectly with roasted lamb, empowering it spicy aromas.

Zerberos Arena 2009               

En nariz muestra aromas a mermelada de fresa, cantos rodados, especias y cacao. En boca seco, sabroso, mineral, fresco, con muchas especias y lavanda, y el tanino aun por pulir para mostrarse totalmente fino. El vino es largo, pero aun tiene que desarrollar su potencial de fruta. Es el más ligero de los tres, mostrando una gran concentración e intensidad.

The wine shows aromas of strawberry jam, rolling stones, spices and cacao. In the mouth the wine is dry, with fresh acidity, tasty, mineral, with tons of spices and lavender and its tannins still a bit firm. The wine is long but it still has to develop all its fruit flavour. Even being the lightest in body of the three, it has a great concentration and intensity.

Instrucciones de Uso: El vino necesita abrirse al menos una hora antes para que le salga todo su potencial frutal, y que se redondeen los taninos. Marida muy bien con asados de cerdo.

Instructions for Use: The wine needs almost an hour before drinking for all its fruitiness to develop and so its tannins become finer, but the wine will improve with some aging in bottle. Perfect match with roasted pork.

Zerberos Arena 2010          

La potencia disfrazada. ¿Quién dijo que un vino de intensidad media o media alta de color no puede ser potente? Aquí tenemos el ejemplo: con aromas a frutos rojos maduros, especias de monte bajo, aromas a tierra y sotobosque. En boca es seco, con acidez media alta, con el roble aun presente y un tanino aun por pulir. El vino tiene gran cuerpo y estructura, y es intenso y largo, dejando un final especiado y mineral.

The disguised power. Who said that a wine with mid high intensity colour cannot be powerful? Here we have an example: with aromas of red mature fruit, bush spices, earthiness. The mouth feel is dry, with mid-high intensity, with oak still showing up, as its tannins. The wine is structured and with great body, intense and long, ending with a spicy and mineral finish.

Instrucciones de Uso: Un vino con esta potencia tan solo necesita un poco de tiempo y temperatura para que se abra. Pero a los que aman los vinos potentes, ¡bon apetite! Es un vino que llegará a ser un gran Arena, pero con mucha paciencia para que se críe en botella. Por su potencia y concentración es un vino que va muy bien con carnes de caza mayor.

Instructions for Use: A wine with such power only needs a bit of temperature and time to open. But all the powerful wine lovers, bon apetite! This wine will become a great Arena if you have patience enough to keep it. Because of its power and concentration, it is a wine that matches very well with game hunting.

Nacer con un pan bajo el brazo / To be born with a silver spoon in one's mouth

Y así es como ha llegado el nuevo vino: Zerberos DelTiemblo 2010. Un vino que nació en concepto hace mucho tiempo, en el 2001 cuando conocí un par de hermanos, Los Isidros, que me mostraron su quehacer en sus viejos viñedos que se encuentran en el Tiemblo. Y "nacer con un pan bajo el brazo", porque en su estreno ya ha sido calificado por encima de los 93 puntos en la Guía Peñín de los Vinos de la edición 2013, y lo más importante es que está gustando mucho. Nota: solo menos de 850 botellas ............

And that is how our new wine has arrived: Zerberos DelTiemblo 2010. A wine that was born as a concept a long time ago, in 2001 when I meet two brothers, Los Isidros, that showed me how they workede their old vineyards at El Tiemblo. And "to be born with a silver spoon in one's mouth", because it has just been scored     over 93 points in the next edition 2013 of the Peñin's Spannish Wine Guide, and what is even more important, people love it. Just one thing; a little less than 850 bottles ....................  

De vuelta a Matrix / Back to Matrix

Como habéis podido comprobar, este medio no es el mío, pero voy a hacer un esfuerzo por comunicarme lo máximo posible con todos. Después de la espectacular puesta en escena que nos hicieron nuestros amigos de Aroma Origen en el making off de la etiqueta de Zerberos Viento Zephyros 2010, me pondré al día con la etiqueta del nuevo vino que ha salido al mercado de la utillería de Zerberos. El vino proviene del pueblo de El Barraco, y es un vino que intenta recrear esos vinos de la zona vitivinícola de Cebreros, cuando tuvieron gran nombre a principios del siglo XX. El vino se llama Zerberos El Berraco, es de la vendimia del 2008 y tuvo una crianza en madera de 24 meses. Os aseguro que es un auténtico "Berraco" en concentración, complejidad y actitud. Y para finalizar, ésta es la etiqueta, que espero que os guste ........... 

As you might have been able to see, this is not where I am most confortable. But I am going to make an effort to comunicate what is going on with Zerberos. After the spectacular making off that my friends from Aroma Origen made of the label of Zerberos Viento Zephyros 2010, I will show you the new wine that Zerberos has made. The wine is made from vineyards of the town of El Barraco. It is a wine that tries to rememorate those wines from the Cebreros winemaking area , when they were famous at the beginning of the 20th Century. The wine is called Zerberos El Berraco  and it was made in the 2008 harvest. This wine has aged 24 months in oak. I asure you it is a real "Berraco" within concentration, complexity and attitude. Finnishing this publication, the label above is the wines label, that I hope you like ...................

Making of de las etiquetas de Zerberos Viento Zephyros

Hola a todos. Después de mucho tiempo, me complace ponerme en contacto de nuevo con vosotros para presentaros el "making of" de las etiquetas de Zerberos Viento Zephyros 2010. Esta maravilla no podría haber sido posible sin el inestimable Álvaro -padre de la criatura-, y sin la colaboración este año de AromaOrigen, y en concreto de Juan Manuel, el artista detrás de la cámara. Al estar en inglés, algunos no lo entenderéis, pero sé que todo el mundo lo comprenderá. Un saludo.
